A high school student in Tochigi Prefecture was arrested on Monday after he admitted to having impersonated a police officer in order to frisk a 10-year-old girl.

According to police, on February 17th at about 4 p.m., the suspect, a 17-year-old Oyama City 2nd year high school student, approached a group of six 4th grade elementary school girls who were playing in an Oyama park. The suspect, who was wearing glasses as a disguise, showed the girls a fake police identification card and said “An elderly woman was seen being pushed to the floor by a girl nearby. I want to talk to you.” He then led one of the girls to a secluded area, told her he needed to pat her down and touched her body.

After hearing about what happened an employee at the victim’s school notified police.

Three days later, on February 20th, a police officer, who was patrolling the area where the incident occurred found the suspect and questioned him. The suspect admitted to the officer that he had been responsible for the incident on the 17th. The fake police identification card, which according to reports looked like the suspect had made it himself, was also found still in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was arrested for indecent assault.
