In a sudden announcement during a live performance on
November 20th the Japanese idol group Kiyoshi Ryujin 25 (清 竜人25), known for being a “polygamous idol
group”, revealed that they will be breaking up after their last performance on
June 17th, 2017. The announcement was made during the encore portion of their
concert. The sole male member declared the group’s impending break up during a
very brief break in the song the group was performing at the time. The group
released a video of this portion of the performance which shows the moment of
the announcement, the audible audience reaction and the immediate continuation
of the performance by the group. You can watch the video here.
Kiyoshi Ryujin 25, though certainly not as popular or
well-known as idol groups like AKB48 or even Babymetal, managed to stand out through
its’ unique “polygamous idol group” concept which seems like it was ripped
straight out of a harem anime. The group consists of several female members
(currently 5) who are all married to the founder and sole male member, Ryujin
Kiyoshi. As a consequence of being married to Mr. Kiyoshi all the female members
also share his last name. Obviously, this is just a fictional backstory and
there are no actual forced marriages going on but it’s certainly an interesting
backstory to say the least.
Ryujin Kiyoshi made his debut as a solo artist in
2009.  However, the dancer and musician became
tired of performing as a solo artist and decided to form an original music
group in 2012. This would eventually lead to the formation of Kiyoshi Ryujin
25, which debuted with the appropriately named “Will♡You♡Marry♡Me?”
as their first single in November of 2014. As you can see in the video below,
Mr. Kiyoshi is being attended to quite lovingly by all his many wives. There’s
cake feeding and kissing and it sure seems like he’s having a truly wonderful
time. The group also has many other music videos which I also recommend
checking out.
